Tor is a network of virtual tunnels that allows people and groups to improve their privacy and security on the Internet. It also enables software developers to create new communication tools with built-in privacy features. Tor provides the foundation for a range of applications that allow organizations and individuals to share information over public networks without compromising their privacy.
Individuals use Tor to keep websites from tracking them and their family members, or to connect to news sites, instant messaging services, or the like when these are blocked by their local Internet providers. Tor’s hidden services let users publish web sites and other services without needing to reveal the location of the site. Individuals also use Tor for socially sensitive communication: chat rooms and web forums for rape and abuse survivors, or people with illnesses.
Journalists use Tor to communicate more safely with whistleblowers and dissidents. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) use Tor to allow their workers to connect to their home website while they’re in a foreign country, without notifying everybody nearby that they’re working with that organization.
This is your chance to make your internet life safer!

This is the best Mac/Apple freeware site I have come accross. All of the applications are of course free and they have everything from browsers, podcast clients, audio and video editing, launchers, archivers, email, file sharing, windows emulation, word processing, sound recording, graphics and html design!
I have to admit, this is one of the best lists of app’s sites that I have come across. Some of the apps are also for PC, but this list is for Mac.

HP this week updated its MediaSmart home server, which has many services Mac users would love to take advantage of. Centralized iTunes music database for the home, picture sharing, even file sharing over the Internet.
Apple should (have done) do something like this too, right?
We heard in August that Apple had some plans to expand the Time Capsule platform to include a lot of this functionality and more.
* The device will tie in MobileMe with an Apple built-in Dynamic DNS system. For instance, if your MobileMe account was “9to5mac”, your domain name would be “9to5mac.me.com”. This is how you’d reach your filesystem throughout the Internet. Your media would also reside here.
* Built in AFP filesharing for Time Machine backups and centralized file stores. Technically, you could even do backups on the road.
* iTunes shared library database for not just music, but also video. Access over the Internet to all of your media.
* Photo database and tie in with with MobileMe.
* Sharing media with iPod Touch and iPhones both over the Internet and while at home. AppleTV as well.
* The box will be based on the Time Machine platform (ARM), not a more expensive Intel/Leopard Server configuration.
* Current Time Machine networking functionality built in. Plugged into the Cable or DSL modem directly.
* Lots of power saving features like turning off hard drives when not in use.
* Multiple hard drive configurations would be made available with RAID 5 redundancy.

Solar Energy, Wind & Alternative Power products & services for residential, commercial and industrial systems. electrical generation, water & swimming pool heating, photovoltaics, collectors, controls, batteries, inverters and complete solar systems.
These guys are a great resource page as well. If you are thinking about solar energy or going green, they have links to pages for rebates and incentives, not to mention they offer a lot of information on opportunities.

I rebuilt a Mac that has been given to me. It’s a long story, but I was able to hack into it and create a user I’d, giving it admin ability through the old os version 9. Once I did this, I could force an auto login to os 10 with that ID and moments later, I became a Mac or Apple guy!
Now that I have used this thing, I realize how much I love it. I now have this fight inside that has led me to the following conclusion, I use both sides of my brain. On the right I have a Mac and the left a PC.

AS BAD AS things are in the financial sector, America’s credit-card companies may not have seen the half of it. More and more consumers are falling behind on their monthly card payments as unemployment rises. This trend is expected to grow until 2010.
“We’re looking for a pretty material deterioration through 2009,” says Donald Fandetti, a specialty-finance analyst at Citigroup.
Charge-offs of bad card debt, or losses, have risen to an annualized 6.6% of balances from 4.6% a year ago and may keep climbing until 2010, when unemployment is expected to peak, according to Fandetti and others. With the housing market in decline and the economy contracting, the charge-off rate is almost sure to exceed the historical high of 7.5% — and many in the business are bracing for double-digits.
All of which is good reason for investors to be wary of the group, despite low valuations on the stocks.
The industry’s most prominent members are American Express (AXP); Bank of America (BAC); Citigroup (C); Capital One Financial (COF); Discover Financial Services (DFS); and JPMorgan Chase (JPM).
My encouragement, BE WARY of buying to much of these guys for a little while longer. If you have to own financials, look at BB&T and Wells Fargo. Again, this is only a recommendation and not a true order to buy! HAHAHAHA! Move slowly and look at their numbers!

By declaring the fundamentals of the economy strong on the day Lehman collapsed, John McCain may have killed his campaign. I actually had to add this video link here, because as we forge on from this point in history, we need to see and understand what being out of touch with the present US economic situation cost Mr. McCain in his run for presidency.
I really liked the man in a lot of ways, but I have to admit that during this campaign, this is probably the key point that changed the direction of an election.
It’s hard to believe he at the time believed that the “fundamentals of our economy” were basically in good shape. Really hard to believe.
And now, here we are. I guess, being out of touch just might be an issue that a lot of our political leaders face.
I wonder when was the last time that some of them drove their car, rode in coach, shopped at a 7-11, ate at a Wendy’s, fed a homeless person, played catch with the neighbor’s kid, salted the driveway of the widow next door’s walkway, ate a hotdog at the high school football game, wore old clothes in public, had so much debt they didn’t know whether to buy groceries or pay bills, got a pink slip, did the dishes, fed the animals or did chores, or even had to do their own taxes.
Maybe Mr. McCain isn’t the only person a little out of touch…
Just a thought.
