Happy New Year | Let’s Live!

Hey Everyone,

Well, it's the end of the year again and boy did that GO FAST!!!!! Isn't that what we always say about it? The year's end comes and what do we say, "well I don't even remember where that year went?" or… "Where does the time go???" or "Boy, they grow up so fast…"

And Isn't that the truth really? Time slows down for no one except ONE. And the more we do and more we go, the more we feel cosnstricted by the very things that were meant to bring us life. As we talked about this last week, it's time for us to take a real hard, true look at our lives and ask some seriously tough questions.

1 – What is one thing that if I did it really well this year, it would change the outcome of my entire life and those around me?
2 – What are the ALL of things that I can add to my, "Don't do" list?
3 – What is something I would like those I love most to say about me after I am gone?
4 – What is the one thing I am great at? Something that I am special and known for that I should develop?
5 – What thing, activity, relationship or event takes me away from my GOD given purpose?

It's time to ask the tough questions. It's time to get some tough answers and even poll the crowd around us and see what we were made for. It's time to stop just surviving and START REALLY LIVING! You were not made to survive, but to LIVE! TO LOVE! TO BE!

So, with that said, we are going to take some necessary steps as a community as the Tapestry the year. The necessary steps mentioned above and more to make sure that we are able to "Recognize" this day of GOD's visitation in our lives, to embrace the important things HE is speaking to us this year and to cut out everything that takes us away from those things. We are about to embark on a journey of maturity in really dynamic relationship and you can join in.

You can replace some old habits with some of the ones here below:
1 – Get involved with one of the events, seminars or trainings, or join a LIFE (Tapis) group (starting at the end of January after our Small group fair).
2 – You can come an worship with us. We are starting a NEW Sunday evening experiential, worship and relational service just like the old days… (ahhh Tapestry vintage 2004).
3 – You can download our brand new app for the iPhone or the Android at http://app.tapestrylife.org/ .
4 – You can follow the Tapestry Life Devo blog for weekly devotional thoughts. (Hopefully soon, they will be daily…)
5 – Or join in on the Bible section of our app for the daily reading and daily listening section. That's right, the full Bible, broken down to daily readings so we as a family can go through it this year.
6 – Join in on our upcoming series about our values that will start in January with a twist on RELATIONSHIPS!

And lastly, all of this is coming to you this way along with a whole LOT MORE this year to focus us in on one truth. The Tapestry exists so that we can learn together how to do relationships that don't suck.

What do you say. Let's kick this NEW YEAR up a notch together. Let's get a bit creative. Let's get a bit relational. Let's get a LOT EXPERIENTIAL and together experience, worship, know, live and love.

What do you say?

I am in. How 'bout you?

Well, I have to run. It's almost midnight and I have one more day before 2010 ends and I need to make the best of it. Why don't you join in with me from DAY ONE and make this the best 2011 you can ever have? I know Poppa wants that for you. I know Jesus is ready. I can hear the Spirit calling. How 'bout you?

Love you guys. Thanks for letting me ramble. It makes me feel good about myself. Just shake your head up and down…

;)

Blessings!

Oswalc Chambers | Keeping with the Vision You Are Given

From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more -John 6:66

When God, by His Spirit through His Word, gives you a clear vision of His will, you must "walk in the light" of that vision (1 John 1:7). Even though your mind and soul may be thrilled by it, if you don't "walk in the light" of it you will sink to a level of bondage never envisioned by our Lord. Mentally disobeying the "heavenly vision" (Acts 26:19) will make you a slave to ideas and views that are completely foreign to Jesus Christ. Don't look at someone else and say, "Well, if he can have those views and prosper, why can't I?" You have to "walk in the light" of the vision that has been given to you. Don't compare yourself with others or judge them- that is between God and them. When you find that one of your favorite and strongly held views clashes with the "heavenly vision," do not begin to debate it. If you do, a sense of property and personal right will emerge in you- things on which Jesus placed no value. He was against these things as being the root of everything foreign to Himself- ". . . for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses" (Luke 12:15). If we don't see and understand this, it is because we are ignoring the underlying principles of our Lord's teaching.

Our tendency is to lie back and bask in the memory of the wonderful experience we had when God revealed His will to us. But if a New Testament standard is revealed to us by the light of God, and we don't try to measure up, or even feel inclined to do so, then we begin to backslide. It means your conscience does not respond to the truth. You can never be the same after the unveiling of a truth. That moment marks you as one who either continues on with even more devotion as a disciple of Jesus Christ, or as one who turns to go back as a deserter.

Welcome to the Tapestry Life Devo!

Hello Everyone,

This is our brand new devo blog (you can still find the Entwine Blog for all topics and announcements here: http://tapestrylife.org/enwtine/). We are working to see that this year, the Tapestry is all about developing mature followers of THE WAY who can really "do" relationships. As a matter of fact, we are even redoing our current byline. We feel like the old one, "Connecting People to GOD and each other…" is a bit arrogant. The truth is that we are not even able as an organization to actually do this. This is GOD's place, not ours. The best we can offer to the world is that we will love Jesus and from the overflow of His love coming back into our lives, we will love others.

So, maybe the new byline can be something like, "Tapestry… Relationships that don't suck…" or "Tapestry… A place you won't mind being found dead at…"

Well, maybe we won't just build our tagline off of all the pretty honest things people say about church, but if you have any ideas, let us know. From this moment, though, you can bet that we are going to pretty darn focused on dynamic relationships and that this is going to be our core guiding principle as it relates to both Spirit and skin. And this devo blog is going to be focused on the intersection of the two relationships.

Alright, I have to run. I promise that I am done writing things that are insightful for the REST OF THE YEAR!!!! OK, so, it's the 29th. That is a likely attainable goal for 2010!

Blessings!
;)

We would like to invite you to the Tapestry's 7th Annual White Elephant Gift Exchange Sunday December 12th, directly after service. Please bring a $10 wrapped gift AND something to eat. (NO MORE THAN $10 though, it can get ugly).

Legal Disclaimer: Tapestry Church is not responsible for any broken bones, bloody noses or subsequent hospital visits.

When you RSVP, please mention whether you will be bringing something that is salty or sweet. Please note this is a light lunch full of finger foods and munchies.

If you aren't quite sure what a White Elephant Gift Exchange is, please see below.

1. Each guest who wishes to participate must contribute a gift. Everyone sits or stands in roughly a circle around the pile of gifts.
2. Everyone draws a number
3. On the first turn, the guest with paper slip #1 chooses a gift, opens it, and all admire it.
4. On the second turn, the guest with paper slip #2 gets the choice of "stealing" any unwrapped gift (#1's) or choosing a wrapped one. If #2 steals #1's gift, then #1 must open a wrapped gift.
5. On the third turn, the guest with paper slip #3 gets the choice of "stealing" any unwrapped gift (#1's or #2's) or choosing a wrapped one.

The game continues based on the following:
1. If a gift is stolen from you, you can steal a gift (within limits, described below), or open a wrapped one.
2. The turn proceeds until a wrapped gift is chosen.
3. A gift cannot be immediately stolen back from the guest who just stole it.
4. The fourth "owner" of a gift gets to keep it. The gift is "dead" after it has been stolen three times.
5. "Owners" of "live" gifts must keep them visible and hold them up when requested.
6. The gift exchange ends when the last wrapped gift is opened.

ESTES PARK 2011
Dear Vineyard Pastor or Worship Leader,

I am writing to you regarding an event that I started in 1999 to encourage and inspire worship leaders, worship pastors and others. It is the National Worship Leaders Retreat @ Estes Park in Estes Park, Colorado. Hundreds of worship leaders have come and have been refreshed by this event, and hundreds of churches have been positively affected by their worship leaders attending this event.

This year's event is January 18 – 21, 2011 and I wanted to clarify who is invited to attend this event. We want to welcome ALL worship leaders, worship pastors, worship directors, music directors, band leaders, and any other person in leadership over any part of the worship ministry at your local church. Over the years there has been some confusion on who this event is for, but I want to be clear – it is for anyone in leadership within your worship ministry.

Here is a link for information and registration for this event: http://estes2011.eventbrite.com/

The early registration prices end on December 17th, so make sure you take a look at this event ASAP and sign up TODAY! Thanks so much, and may God bless you with His presence!

A Thought by Henry Blackaby on the Days of Small Things

Small Things Are Not Despised

For who has despised the day of small things? (Zechariah 4:10)

The world loves the spectacular. God has proven that He is certainly capable of the extraordinary, but He often chooses to work through the ordinary and seemingly insignificant. In this way He demonstrates His love and His power.

Throughout history, God's answer to a critical time was to send a baby. Isaac, Moses, Samuel, John the Baptist, and Jesus were all born as answers to a time of need. When God delivered the Israelites from the Midianites' oppression, He intentionally used an army of merely three hundred men to defeat a vastly larger army. He had more soldiers available, but He preferred to demonstrate His power in the way He accomplished His purposes. When Jesus selected His first disciples He could have enlisted a multitude to follow Him, but He chose twelve. It was not the number of disciples but the quality of their walk with Him that would determine how they affected their world. When Jesus fed a multitude, five loaves of bread and two fish from a boy's lunch were sufficient in the hands of the Lord.

Jesus compared the kingdom of God to a mustard seed (Matt. 13:31-32). The mustard seed was the smallest seed known to the Jews, yet it grew into an enormous tree. He also likened God's kingdom to leaven that is hardly noticeable but raises the entire batch of dough (Matt. 13:33). When children came to Jesus, His disciples assumed they were an annoyance and chased them away (Matt. 19:13-15). But Jesus said that in order to enter His kingdom, people must approach God as a child.

Christians often accept the adage "the bigger the better." We measure success by the number of people involved in our ministry. We seek spectacular displays of God's power. We must learn to view success as God does. God is interested in the heart; He is pleased with obedience. (Read more at www.blackaby.org)

A Thought on Repentence by Oswald Chambers

By one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified -Hebrews 10:14

We trample the blood of the Son of God underfoot if we think we are forgiven because we are sorry for our sins. The only reason for the forgiveness of our sins by God, and the infinite depth of His promise to forget them, is the death of Jesus Christ. Our repentance is merely the result of our personal realization of the atonement by the Cross of Christ, which He has provided for us. ". . . Christ Jesus . . . became for us wisdom from God-and righteousness and sanctification and redemption . . ." (1 Corinthians 1:30). Once we realize that Christ has become all this for us, the limitless joy of God begins in us. And wherever the joy of God is not present, the death sentence is still in effect.

No matter who or what we are, God restores us to right standing with Himself only by means of the death of Jesus Christ. God does this, not because Jesus pleads with Him to do so but because He died. It cannot be earned, just accepted. All the pleading for salvation which deliberately ignores the Cross of Christ is useless. It is knocking at a door other than the one which Jesus has already opened. We protest by saying, "But I don't want to come that way. It is too humiliating to be received as a sinner." God's response, through Peter, is, ". . . there is no other name . . . by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). What at first appears to be heartlessness on God's part is actually the true expression of His heart. There is unlimited entrance His way. "In Him we have redemption through His blood . . ." (Ephesians 1:7). To identify with the death of Jesus Christ means that we must die to everything that was never a part of Him.

God is just in saving bad people only as He makes them good. Our Lord does not pretend we are all right when we are all wrong. The atonement by the Cross of Christ is the propitiation God uses to make unholy people holy.
